TL;DR:

  1. Use Google to find high ranking webpages in your niche
  2. Find key takeaways from multiple articles on different webpages
  3. Rewrite the content and organize it in a better format with the help of Grammarly

Content marketing is a great way to promote your business and to generate leads on autopilot. It's kinda like having thousands of sales reps advertising your business while you sleep. Having great content will give you a leg up as far as engagement and better ranking on search engines. Big corporations like Apple, Tesla, Samsung are using creative content to entice us into buying. However, creating high-quality content requires a ton of research effort and time to write that content. If you are serious about your business's success online, you need great content to stand out from the crowd. More importantly, your content needs to be engaging, easy to digest, and readable. The internet is an extremely competitive sport, and only the smartest survive.

What makes content great?

The purpose of having a business is usually to generate an income. However, for customers to willingly give you their money, your business needs to help them fulfill a need, desire, or solve their problem.

Your potential customers are searching the internet to find solutions to their needs or wants. Great content is content that speaks to your audience and helps them fulfill what they desire. On social media, high-quality content is the kind of content that's getting high engagement or likes on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. On search engines like Google, Pinterest, Bing, etc., you want to look at highly ranked content. This article focuses on highly ranked search engine content, which you can repurpose through other marketing channels like social media. I'll explain this later.

1. Use Google to find high ranking webpages in your niche

The gift and curse of the internet is that it provides us with a wide choice of content. There are millions of pages that discuss any given topic in any niche. However, our human brains are easily overwhelmed by the sheer abundance of content. If you are an entrepreneur like myself, you've likely spent days on end trying to find the best way to do something. There are many opinions on the internet, some of them fake, some of them genuine.

Using Google can help you to find highly ranked content from high domain authority websites. What makes this content great is that it's the kind of content people are actively searching for and enjoying. Google's search ranking algorithm prioritizes engaging content on its first search results page. Think of it this way, imagine Google was putting random content on the first page. Its search users would likely not enjoy or find any use for that random content to enhance the user experience. Google has no choice but to prioritize that content to keep being the search engine of choice for many.

So, how can you benefit from Google?

Ubersuggest Chrome extension

Use keyword research tools like Ubersuggest's Chrome browser extension to find topics that users in your niche are actively searching for to model. Uberssugest can help you narrow down keyword-rich search phrases regularly searched by people in your niche. Once you find a great search phrase that your customers may find valuable, you need to look at the top ten links using that search term. Picking 2 or 3 will suffice if you don't have time to read and analyze much content. For example, you could search for how to bake a cake and see what kind of content people are searching for related to baking cakes.

2. Find key takeaways from multiple articles on different webpages

Ever heard the phrase, good artists copy, great artists steal. Your mission isn't to steal, though — that's unethical. You want to take the content you find, summarise key takeaways, and add your flavor to it to make it your own. Extract headings from highly ranked pages that you found in step 1 and maybe add a few words to make them better. Titles should consist of what people are likely to enter as a search phrase for that particular problem.

Going back to our baking cake example, if you teach people how to bake, you could write an article on baking a chocolate cake without baking soda. This approach's power is that it's very particular. It will likely yield highly qualified leads that you can then nurture into paying customers.

Generally, you want to create content that entertains, motivates, or educates your audience. The purpose of content marketing is to help your potential customers to fill a void in their own lives. Guide your audience to victory. They will reward you for that in the long run.

3. Rewrite the content and organize it in a better format with the help of Grammarly

Writing can be difficult and cognitively demanding. Some writers like J.K. Rowling go for years without putting out new books because of writer's block.

Writing performance

Using the method I described earlier, you don't need to wait for creativity to strike. To make your writing process more enjoyable, and create engaging content, use Grammarly to write your content. It also helps you to check whether your content is engaging and has a high readability score. You can integrate it into your favorite browser, Microsoft Word, and even use it on your mobile phone.

Grammarly Premium

I personally use the paid version of Grammarly as it has more useful features than its free alternative. Grammarly can give you some insights into your content's quality, such as correctness, clarity, engagement, delivery, and a few other metrics like the reading length and readability. Those metrics tools can help you ensure that your content is excellent as soon as you start writing. If your content is well rewritten and valuable to your audience, it encourages sharing. Sharing is a prerequisite for growing your audience online and potentially going viral. Also, check your content for plagiarism to ensure your content is 100% original. Use headings, bullets, other formatting tools to organize your content and make important sections stand out.

Grammarly's plagiarism checker

Most people think that Grammarly is simply a spellchecker. It's much more than that as it can help you detect unlying issues in your copywriting. For instance, if you would like to ensure that your content is easy to read, you can generally use it as your audience in your goals. What that does is it tells Grammarly to detect hard-to-read sentences so you can shorten or rewrite them accordingly. As entrepreneurs, we often forget to use the right punctuation, be brief, or even find excellent words to give that professional finish to your content. Words sell!

Often times, we say or write things that may be offensive to others. Sometimes we offend others without intending to. Grammarly can help you detect such unintended transgressions, too, so you can be politically correct in this PC world. Of course, Grammarly isn't perfect as it often misses some issues like missing words, for example. I believe those issues will eventually become a thing of the past as Grammarly continues to leverage artificial intelligence. If you feel more comfortable, you can also send your content for proofreading. Overall, it has served me well for more than 5 years now. I can't imagine writing copy without it.

Bonus

Repurpose each piece of content you create. Post it on your social media pages and profiles, your website, and blog and generate quote cards for Instagram from the content. Use automation tools to save time online so you can focus on what you do best. Your goal should be to be omnipresent, primarily through automation, so you can drive traffic to your products and offers.
